Dear Daisy Mae,
How come I don’t have a belly button? Do dogs reproduce through mitosis like an amoeba?
Thanks for writing. I hear this question a lot. Somewhere underneath you do, indeed, have a belly button. (Assuming you’re actually a dog and not, say, a chicken masquerading as a dog.) The problem is that your belly button doesn’t look like a human’s. It looks more like a scar. Dogs probably could reproduce by mitosis if we felt like it but who wants to emulate an amoeba? Besides, the normal way is more fun.
